Perception of War Movies/Platoon

I must admit I have seen a great an amount of different kinds of war movies, similar to platoon. These films always leave me wondering what these soldiers really felt like. I think platoon was great in its own special way. The one thing I found that I found interesting about the particular film is how they focused on the social life of the soldiers. I personally enjoyed the scene of the soldiers getting drunk. Before watching this film, I didn’t know that these things existed in the Vietnam War. But it seems that of all of these movies the main idea is showing the pride of the American military. Because one thing I can say that is common amongst all of these different war films is the way the present the U.S Military. All of these movies give me a perception that the U.S soldiers went through tough times, but at the same time everyone felt a tremendous amount of patriotism for there country. I think that the most important, that the viewers have a sense of respect for the U.S Military. A similar movie that I thought was similar to this movie the patriot, with stared Mel Gibson, It seem that the makers of the film general purpose was to show the viewers the pride of Mel Gibson, who was a soldier. Or even troy, though it wasn’t about the U.S military, the fact still remains that there was a strong sense of pride on both sides. I sometimes wonder why this idea is emphasized so much in films no of days. I personally think that these movies are designed under this idea because perhaps the government feels that it’s important of how other nations perceive us. Generally I think that these films can only be air if is demonstrates the military in a fair way. Through Platoon showed some negative scenes of the military. I don’t think it necessarily think the scene of the vandalizing the innocent villages, or getting drunk and high was appropriate. So over all I the war films in this country present the military in a certain way, in a way that the viewers feel confident in the military soldiers.

New York Library of Perfoming Art Library

The New York City Library one of a few interesting libraries that i visited within the last few weeks. Like all other big libraries, this one has it's own unique style. First and formost, i found it very dificault to find. The idea that you had to walk through the whole outside exhibit, before entering the libary, made it quite hard to reach my destination. Due to the fact that there was very little classmates there, clearly means that i wasn't the only one who had problems getting to the library. I also found theater movies and CD's such as Bruce LeeI didn't really find to much the struck me as being interesting, i didn't really find anything more but a well structured first floor. I walk past the front desk to pursue the second floor. This is when the library began to become interesting. One thing that i like on the second floor was the collection of videos. There was acully a colletion on videoes on accent. The DVD's acully offers leasons on how to perfom a accent diffrent from american. One that caught my eye was the David Alan Stern Series.
On the third floor i found what seems like a very usefull resource area. With resouce computers. To go with the the resource center i found great drawing from as early as the day of Mozart, there was a great painting of the Motartz Family in 1780. This was just one of many different paintings that i observed. However i did find so usefull information that i think would be relevent to my final project. Due to the fact that my project will explore the idea of public decentcy laws, in which certain states find it unacceptable to wear your pants the way to want.
I saw some interesrting magazies on fashion. I think magezines with this kind of information would be very usefull to my to my project, in the sense that i am focused on the fahsion and the perspective of the society, veres the government's perspective.

My weekend

This was a great weekend for me. Friday i went to a party with my brother, and i had a ball. But what made my weekend so cool was the fact the my i brought a xbox 360. Now my room is complete. I don't have any reason to be bored. I am always busy now. I am not sure if it's benificial, but i do have fun. I sometimes worry that the game will distract me from my school work, and keep me up all hours of the night. I try to have self control.

The Trip to the Library/Save the Planet [Spring Break]-You Already Know!!

Though i have visited many libraries, i must admit that this was quite an interesting trip. I must start off by commenting on the Tour of that fascinating library , with the lions statues. I'm sure that many classmates will agree that it was a site to see. However, the guy that was explaining the history of exhibit, was certainly killing me. I don't know if everyone else was tired of listening, but i know that i certainly couldn't take anymore. But i did admire that the structure of the building. As the guy mentioned, the wall were certainly different from most wall, built now of days. I guess they don't make them like that anymore. Anyhow, i learned a tremendous amount of things about these two libraries. The First library was certainly interesting, in the sense that the building had so many sources of research. Throughout the first and fifth floor, there were sources from Different nationalities of the world, documentations on famous people, such as Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson's, I mean actual DVD footage of these kinds of people. I wanted to to check out some items, unfortunately i didn't have a library card. I was really impressed with what i saw. What also made the library so cool was the fact that there was a separate floor for the media. In which you could actually receive access to the web, as well as look up some of the best magazines. The list goes On.
I pretty sure that there was also of sources on how to keep the planet from self destructing. I din;t really have that much time to find any thing, but i am however, trying many new life changes to make the planet a better place. I know that i won't make much of a difference, but i don't mind making a positive difference. As mentioned previously, i do in fact try to do little things around the house different. I we also switched from plastic containers, to glass. We recycle a lot more often, and we also try to conserve a little bit more energy. I turn things off more frequently, such as the bathroom light, computer, television, thing that don't need to be plugged in, such as the charger for my phone, generally things of this nature. Like i said, it's not much, a a little bit does make a difference, even if it's just a small contribution. Plese feel free to comment, or make suggestions, peace.

Go Green- What can me and My Family do!

There are many different things that we as a society can do to make this world a better place. I try to do little, in regards to making this a better place. It's not much, but it is certainly a start. The first time i saw An Incontinent Truth, I really couldn't believe my ears. I didn't realize how much humans, denaturalize the environment. It wasn't really important to me before. My model was, what can my little self do to help the environment, not much, But after watching this interesting film, my interest in making this a better planet changed. I then wanted change my way of life. The thing that scared me was when Al Gore showed what can happen to New York City at the rate that we are going. I saw that the city could actually go under water. For me this was a major wake up can. Indeed I do try to do little things to help the environment. When I remember, I do recycle. I also try to conserve energy. I try not to keep the T.V running all night, turn of the bathroom light, generally simple things. I came across an interesting website that suggested several things that we could do to make this world a better place. Surprisingly there were actually some suggestions that I would consider. Not all, But some. It mentioned how using organic cotton, could help, which would be a problem for me, as long as the material is still name brand. Also to use a human lawnmower, as opposed to using one ran by energy. This wouldn't be a bad idea, only we don't have any land to mow. So this would be irrelevant, in my case, Or to dry cloths using a clothes lines, rather than to use the dryer, My moms use to this when I was younger. Maybe she might consider that idea. Also to ride bikes, in replacement of a vehicle, in which I don't think would work out for my parents, simply because they are old and lazy, But me being young without a car. I will surly consider that idea. These were all interesting proposals. I want to make this world a better place, so perhaps me and my family could, dry our cloths the old fashion way, recycle, by organic cotton cloths, turn out lights when it's necessary. These are some of the thing we can do to get this positive movement rolling.

what's next for Venice

It seems like the idea of global warming is getting more and scarier as the days go on. The news about Antarctica should really be a wake up call. Perhaps it may be the next Venice. According to in convenient truth, it seems like the whole entire continent is under self destruction. The major problems are that the green house gases are trapping the sun rays. This means that, this is why our earth is warming up as we know it. There is too much Co2 in the air. In reaction to this situation the Co2 helps to prevent earth’s heat from going back into the atmosphere. And because the earth is getting warmer, due to trapped sun rays, Antarctica is melting as we speak.

It sounds crazy just saying it. I think that Venice will be covered in water, due to the continuing amount of rising sea levels. As places such as Antarctica is melting, this means that there is more water in the ocean. But besides a missing continent, what else will happen at this rate. According to An Inconvenient Truth, this is a very bad situation for our animals, such as polar bears, penguins, and any other animals living on this big chunk of ice. This terrible situation means that there will be a real shortage of these particular species. Reason being, is because as the ice melts, the pieces of land melts away into the ocean. Often times these animals must swim many miles, in search of shelter. The sad part is that they drown, because the distance is too far. I couldn't imagine the feeling, The feeling of fighting for my own life. This is just one of many tragic stories, of how global warming is not only, taking away our world, but our animals as well. So in my opinion, Venice doesn't strand a chance at this rate. Something must be done, immediately.

Compare or Martix & Gnosticism

While reading the summary of Gnostism, I wasn’t hard to come to the assumption that, this is one of many interesting religions. I learned that this religion is practice most frequently, in the Middle East region, Perhaps, threes a connection with the Muslim belief. However, to my understanding of the Gnosticism, is simply a belief system, in which the people live by the moral idea that "people" are divine souls trapped in a materialistic world. And the only way to escape this way of life is to seek knowledge. Not just any knowledge, but Gnosis. This is considered to be knowledge of god. According to the text, this sense of intelligence can only be obtained by, the direct experience with god. In connection to the term Allegory, I feel that these two terms share similarities, in the sense that they are both forms of expression. As mentioned, in my earlier blog, Allegory is an artistic way of expressing and idea, where as Gnostism, can also be considered, a form of expression, where people expresses themselves through morals and beliefs. I also, consider the matrix to be an aspect, worth making a connection to. I think that the matrix film certainly connects to the religious term Gnostism. The reason being is because I feel that both parties can agree that humans are trapped in to a materialistic world. I think that the matrix can agree on this idea because, the only way to escape the matrix, is to learn the truth.

Anthony Chapman- What is Allegory

At First the definition sounded very complicated, i eventually, found the logic of the word. From my understanding The Term Allegory, can be described as a form of expression. Perhaps it's a artistic way of expressing an idea. As mentioned, in Wickapedia, it's often view as larger form of a metaphore. This term seems to have a connection, with the the martix film. One connection that i made between the two is that, both share the values of imagination. Allegory, has values of imagination, in the sense that it expresses art, and the matrix, is an obviously a sense of imagination, giving the idea of exploring the inside of an computer.

Anthony Matrix

I personally thought that the matrix was an exceptionally good movie. This movie gave me such a break from reality. I enjoyed stretching my imagination, to say the least. What better character, then Lawrence Fishburn, for this sort of film. His demeanor was so serious, it really engages the audience. Honestly, I still think that this movie is very complexes. Though it's interesting, in requires you pay close attention, other wise; it can very difficult to understand. I watched this movie several times, before I grasped an efficient understanding of the story.

There were so many scene that really more you to think a lot. One scene, that stuck we was when, Fishburn mentioned the idea, that your mind, manipulates, reality. This idea was stuck in my mind the whole entire movie. I just found it confusing, that, if you put in enough mental energy faith, you could bind a spoon. Or your ability to jump a roof top depends on your confidence. The thought alone makes my hand sweat. I think that the person who thought of this movie, in science addict. And a large imagination is required. As mentioned previously, this movie certainly exercises you imagination. After watching such a science fiction movie, many thought crossed my mind. It made me wonder just how big the universe really is. is there another dimension out there that has not yet been discovered. Or maybe there is some different kind of species. Just what does this mean for our future? After all, there was a point in time where, computers were of to people. Maybe this means that we have a lot to learn, and just maybe, our future has more in store for us, then we expect.

Overall though, I must say that, if a movie makes you wonder this way, then it must mean that it's a good movie. Though, if I could change something about this film, i would probably find some sort of way to make it more easier to understand. I had to watch this film at least three times to get a fair understanding of the film. And the other matrix films are even more minded boggling. There were actually times where i was impatient, because, I was tying to understand what was going on. But once i understood what was going, it was a great film. In lou of my lacking abilty to undrstand, i give this movie two thumbs up, and i highly recommend it to science lovers.
